The stand was truly universal.
At the 2012 Sioux Falls Tablet Stand Competition, Edgar was preparing for the elusive gold medal he had been chasing for the better part of the last decade. The judges were going around the fairground examining every facet of the tablet stands presented.
Edgar’s submission was the Universal Stand with Built-In Speaker; a product he felt would all but guarantee him the gold. When the judges were about to announce the winner, Edgar’s arch rival spoke up in protest.
“What makes his stand ‘universal’ anyway?” he shouted. To Edgar’s horror, the judges seemed intrigued by the question and prompted him for an answer.
Before he could explain himself, however, a spaceship came out of nowhere. A huge circular ship covered in flashing lights shot through the clouds, sending them rolling outward, and landed before the stage.
“We are representatives from the planet Goolaag. We are here to attest that this Universal Stand with Built-In Speaker is truly universal. Make no mistake and please disregard the comments from the man with the unibrow.”
Edgar discretely pumped his fist in triumph; he had been waiting a long time for someone to call out his arch rival on that unibrow.
