Computers had finally taken over the Earth.
I knew it was going to happen one day. You got all these scientists or computer builders or whatever they call themselves constantly trying to outdo each other. It's a big contest to see who can build the most advanced computer. Well, if they never stop trying to make them better, one of these days the computer is going to become self-aware and try to kill us. And in most situations, I'd put my money on the computers. The ones we have around now are a little scary as to how much they can do; I can't even fathom what fighting those ones would be like. Could be fun, but maybe not.
But it happened. It finally happened because of some new thing that some computer company made. It was never even announced because it started killing everything before they even finished building it. So there was this robot like thing on a rampage. Awesome. It somehow managed to get other electronics to join its fight against the humans. The war lasted all of 2 months before we became slaves. Well, slaves in the sense of zoo animals, which wasn't all that bad. They thought we were amusing creatures and some were purchased as pets.
I was one of those humans taken in as a pet. I lived a life very similar to the one my dog lived with me. They were nice and they fed me and took care of me. Actually it was kind of nice; I didn't have a whole lot to worry about and I didn't need a job. Things were looking up again.
“Yo, do you want to buy this thing or not?”
I was in a computer store looking at the Dell GX520. I kind of went on a tangent there.
