He almost showed me up.
I was constantly in competition with this one member of my group of friends, Chet. He was a jerk; I didn’t like him at all. Unfortunately, no one else within my friends thought the same, so he was usually invited to most things we did. This got so bad that it was actually weird even if I didn’t invite him places.
