I decided that I would walk 500 miles.
As many people do every now and then, Mike and his best friend Mike sat around talking about things they want to do with their lives. Being a runner in the past, Mike was lamenting his current state of laziness. Of course, running wasn’t exactly in the cards since Mike had gotten so fat.
“You know what?” he said after much internal deliberation. “I’m going to walk five hundred miles.”
“Five hundred?” Mike replied, incredulous.
“That’s right, and you know what I’m going to do after that? I’m going to walk five hundred more.”
“Why would you do such a thing?”
“Just to be the man that walked a thousand miles.”
Since he proclaimed he would start immediately, Mike headed straight out the door. A minute or so later he returned.
